HISTORY:
In 1972, from the basement of a modest La Vista, Nebraska home, Vince Russo started selling and repairing guitars and amplifiers. Russo’s, as Vince's small operation became known, quickly earned a favorable reputation amongst many of Omaha's musician's for his highly personalized service and unmatched craftsmanship.
By the mid 1980’s, a young and ambitious Russo's customer named James, recognized the strain and stress inflicted upon Russo's third owner John, from the growing success of the one man operation. Initially offering to relieve John of his duties just one day each week, James quickly impressed John; ultimately becoming one of John's two protégées. Over the next several years, James was instrumental in helping Russo's transition from a tackle cash box to one of the first music retailers in the country to utilize Point of Sale software.
The reins at Russo's, in the mid 1990's, were eventually passed to now current owner and President, James DeSchamp, or
Jim as he is known to his faithful employees. Grounded by the "mom-and-pop-shop" roots that were first bestowed upon him
by Vince Russo nearly 30 years, Jim continues to elevate Russo's Guitar and Drum Center to new heights.
Currently, Russo's Guitar and Drum Center boast's one of the largest and most diversified privately owned music retail
stores in the country. With a store front that offers just over 12,000 square feet in space, Russo's Guitar and Drum
Center, unlike many chain music retailers; recognizes that they are not just in the business of guitars and amplifiers; but
that they are in the business of people! Accordingly, Russo’s Guitar and Drum Center, by listening to their highly valued
customers, provides students with personalized lessons from 16 of the most talented instructors in the Midwest; all within
private, state of the art rooms. In addition, Russo's Guitar and Drum Center offers full guitar and amplifier repair right
in the store; as well as, backline equipment rental, and the ability to experience, in comfort and without distraction,
many of the industry's leading brand names in separate acoustic, electric, and amplifier rooms.
